OUR MISSION
” Empowering a culture of human rights for sustainable development “
OUR VISION
Inspire Pakistan envisions taking corrective measures geared towards the slowly deteriorating human rights situation in the country. Ethical and moral standards that used to be in high spirits have become virtually non-existent with access to human rights reserved for those powerful and influential enough to demand them.
Inspire Pakistan envisions a nation that considers diversity a cause for celebration and acceptance and not persecution and discrimination. A society in which there is a respect and inherent value of human life on the basis of equality and not ones ethnic, religious, and/or political/social orientation.
By creating linkages with civil society and the government, we aim to nurture a system that builds on our unique strengths, polishes our potential, and enables us all in moving forwards towards becoming a tolerant and just society thereby inducing a long term peace, tranquility, progress and development.
Inspire Pakistan derives that a positive change can only be brought through the protection of the fundamental Human Rights of the people on grounds of equality. In order to ensure such a protection; there is a universal standard of Human Rights, which is to be endorsed and enforced by every community and society that is desirous of a harmonised and stabilized condition of inherent human value and dignity. Without having ensured the aforementioned, one cannot progress as a society and embrace true development.
It has now become an established fact that the fate of a society cannot be positively changed without ensuring the people’s right to Education. It is seen as the key that opens the doors of development and in the case of Pakistan it scan be considered as the last resort. Inspire Pakistan endeavours to work for the education sector in a manner that all the children receive basic education and are in schools rather than working on the streets and the informal sector. An educated generation is the only way out of the vicious cycle of poverty, corruption, injustice, inequality, and intolerance. Therefore, Inspire Pakistan will play a role in this regard as we consider education an essential component in our efforts to rid society from the evils created due to lack of awareness and education.
Many people languish due to a lack of awareness on issues relevant to people in terms of their rights and otherwise can make a substantial difference in the lives of people. Inspire Pakistan plans to create awareness through a mix of different tools incorporated in its dynamic communication strategy. This will be done through diverse programmes in order to enrich society through seminars, conferences, training programmes, periodic newsletters and other publications etc. as well as institutions through capacity building, technical advice, and support services etc.
The catastrophes of the 2005 earthquake and the 2009/10 floods in Pakistan and their aftermath convinced the humanitarian communities that Pakistan also requires attention and care targeted towards mobilisation of communities in case of natural disasters and their respective empowerment in the aftermath. Similarly, Inspire Pakistan understands for a fact that under such emergencies the need for basic protection raises exponentially as there is a greater threat to the lives of survivors due to scarce supply of basic necessities like provision of safe drinking water, food, and shelter etc. Furthermore, protection from harsh weather conditions become of an utmost life-saving importance. Although the provision of protection to the survivors is the supreme responsibility of the State, the magnitude of the emergency, most often, is so great and its impact so immense that no single actor can fulfil the requirements of the situation. Inspire Pakistan embraces the challenge of protecting the lives and rights of people under such disasters and emergencies through humanitarian assistance, relief efforts, and rehabilitation of the people.
From the year 2000 onwards there have been many changes attributed to the on-going struggles against terrorism and extremism within the country as well as the region. This has deeply wrecked the social fabric alongside damaging the cultural and social norms. Simultaneously, society faces economic, security and financial constraints and lack of respect for human rights, injustice, record corruption, inflation, as well as power and energy crisis. All of that is hence resulting in the anguish, frustration, anger and dismay of the people of the society. It is due to such conditions that society is transforming, at a very rapid pace, into an atmosphere of injustice, intolerance, discrimination, insecurity and is also shattering the entire persona and dignity of the people. Inspire Pakistan is witnessing this as a phenomena that would take the people and masses towards their cultural and social demise. This is a stranglehold with which the people shall only further suffocate themselves. While Inspire Pakistan understands that it is beyond the capacity of a single organisation or group to resolve all such issues and problems, however, much can be done in terms with promoting a ‘culture of peace’ and organizing peace-building efforts to improve the deteriorating situation within the society. Therefore, Inspire Pakistan pledges to undertake the possible interventions designed towards inducing a climate of peace, tolerance, justice, equity and fairness within the society and the revival of the inner and true cultural, social, religious and civic values
The aforementioned discussion is the prime basis serving as a philosophical rationale towards the formation of Inspire Pakistan. The organisation believes that in order to develop a society in a way that it fosters progression; the best path that has to be followed is by ensuring and upholding the rights of the people. We, the people of Inspire Pakistan, for the mentioned aspect give utmost importance to the people’s right to life and security, equality of persons irrespective of any discriminatory vice, the right to education, all the freedoms and liberties endorsed by the UDHR; the protection of the people’s rights under emergencies either man made or natural and finally peace-building efforts. The organisation’s working philosophy revolves around this sphere and underpins that is this struggle and effort knitted through human rights, education, humanitarian assistance and relief and rehabilitation efforts as well as awareness raising and trainings of the masses and institutions respectively and finally building peace; that will eventually make Pakistan a progressive, developed and civilized society that Inspire Pakistan, as an organisation as well as a cause; envisages.
We, the people of Inspire Pakistan, are united in our cause to make Pakistan a better place to live in. We envisage a society that respects the inherent dignity and basic rights of all the members of the human family while also aiming for real social development that is achieved once people of a society demonstrate the virtues of tolerance, patience, and greater awareness towards their rights and those of other members of the society on the basis of equality and the principle of anti-discrimination. It is only through this path that real freedom, justice and peace can prevail- and hence remains the utmost endeavour of Inspire Pakistan.
We, the people of Inspire Pakistan, have a strong conviction in the fact that once such a state is achieved where the people are treated on the grounds of equality and on the basis of their rights and not by virtue of privileges and status; the people living in communities will do so peacefully and in harmony; while progressing towards personal and social development. This is indeed enshrined in the very first article of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) through which Inspire Pakistan takes its spirit, energy and zeal; and it reads “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood”
